Leprous Unveil New Single “Golden Prayers”

0

Norwegian proggers Leprous are releasing a new standalone single “Golden Prayers” today. The band has been sitting on the track since it was recorded with their previous album, Malina, but they’re finally releasing it today to kick off their 2018 campaign, which covers several festivals and tour dates worldwide. Leprous commented:

“It’s very exciting for us to finally release ‘Golden Prayers.’ It was recorded together with the Malina material, but we felt it worked better as a standalone tune than on the actual album. So we saved it until now. Enjoy!”

Interesting decision. “Golden Prayers” is excellent enough to hold its own, but… it’s also so good that it deserves a spot on an actual record. It’s a prime example of Leprous’ songwriting savvy and the musical direction they’re taking. Also, my god, the drums — Baard Kolstad’s groove is fucking tight. Baard the Beast always has a distinctive style and energy, and that has the chance to fully shine through on the somewhat minimalistic “Golden Prayers.” Indulge your ears below, and check out Leprous’ tour dates for this summer underneath.
