Shit That Comes Out Today: May 11, 2018
In the wake of Infinity War, I’ve been reading a lot of comics, because I’ve grown tired of watching Family Guy/American Dad all the way through for the 100th time. I just finished Age of Ultron, so if anyone has recommendations for good reads, then I’m all ears. X-Men is my favorite, so if anyone has recommendations other than The Dark Phoenix Saga, then let me know. I figure this is a much healthier hobby than getting hammered every night so I might as well embrace it. Also, if anyone else is interested in reading a fuckton of comics, go check out Marvel Unlimited. You can read every marvel comic going back to the 1960s for something like $10 a month. And no, we’re not getting paid to say that. It’s just awesome and I figured I would share.
Sevendust
All I See Is War (Rise)
On a playlist with Korn ,Chevelle and Mudvayne
Listen: “Medicated”
The singles from Sevendust’s 12th studio album have been, well, all over the place. So I decided to go ahead and present to you all the strongest one of the bunch. Although I never got too deep into Sevendust’s material, I certainly don’t dislike them and “Medicated” is a pretty good song even by my picky tastes. However, at the end of the day, Sevendust have been around for-fucking-ever in case you couldn’t figure that out by this being their 12th album. By now you probably know whether you like these guys or not. And by the way, if you’ve ever wanted to know what vocalist Lajon Witherspoon thinks of all the YouTube covers of his music, you can see here.
Aborted Fetus
The Ancient Spirits Of Decay (Comatose)
On a playlist with Abhorrent Deformity, Abominable Putridity and Splattered
Listen: “Nailed To The Cross”
As far as guttural, gurggly death metal goes, Aborted Fetus are a go-to band. This particular style of death metal has never interested me too much as I generally prefer to be able to understand about 20% of the lyrics rather than 0% of the lyrics, but I still appericate this band for being straight to the point, no bullshit death metal. You don’t want something with musical profundity, your want dead people. You don’t want a power ballad, you want Jesus nailed to a couple 2x4s. When you don’t want anything except for gurgling, senseless violence, Aborted Fetus are the band for you and they were nice enough to give you new music today.
Child Bite
Burnt Offerings (Housecore)
On a playlist with Battlecross, King Parrot and Eyehategod
Listen: “Stroke the Negative”
Although this album has a whopping 28 tracks on it, not all of them are new songs. Figured I would get that out of the way before you all collectively shit yourselves from thinking you’re getting that much new music from Child Bite. Burnt Offerings is a musical amalgamation of sorts featuring unreleased songs, tracks that were previously vinyl-only, and plenty of covers. As an added bonus, Phil Anelmo does guest vocals on 6 of those covers. So although this might not be a completely new album, there is plenty of stuff to digest for fans of Child Bite. And for those of you who don’t like them, check out some of the covers and maybe you’ll change your mind.
Skinless
Savagery (Relapse)
On a playlist with Origin, Dying Fetus and Devourment
Listen: “Savagery”
You probably could have guessed this based solely on the album artwork, but Savagery is easily the heaviest release this week. If you want death metal but prefer something a little bit more polished than Aborted Fetus, then Savagery are the band for you. With an auditory assault that will leave your brain in the same liquid state as your piss, any death metal fan should find something to like about these guys whether you’re an oldhead or just getting into the genre. Again, this is the heaviest release of the week so if you need your dick thrown into the dirt, then look no further than Skinless.
Orgy
Army To Your Party (D1 Music/Pacific Rising Entertainment)
On a playlist with Carpenter Brut, Rammstein and Perturbator
Listen: “Army To Your Party”
I absolutely love writing this at my day job because I like to think that someone in IT is sitting in their cubicle wondering who the fuck is googling shit like Aborted Fetus and Orgy in the same day. But I digress, Orgy are a synthrock band in the same vein as Carpenter Brut. They aren’t really metal, but I’d be lying if I said that this track wasn’t catchy. And on that note, that’s all this is. Just one track. I know, that sucks, but no other bands named Orgy are releasing anything this week so that’s the way shit is goes down. If you’re looking for something different, then give Orgy a chance. It’s lame that they only released 30 seconds of the official recording of the song, so you can watch them play it live here.
