Guns N’ Roses Release “Shadow of Your Love,” Formally Announce Appetite for Destruction Reissue
We knew this was coming, but Guns N’ Roses have now officially announced the impending release of a thirtieth thirty-first anniversary edition of their legendary debut, Appetite for Destruction. And not to pat myself on the back, but I pretty much called it with regards to “Shadow of Your Love” being the first single and with regards to the bonus material:
“I imagine most of it will be stuff that hardcore fans have already been passing around for thirty years, like covers of ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ and ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ and demos for songs that were intended for Appetite but ended up on Use Your Illusion (e.g., ‘November Rain,’ ‘Don’t Cry,’ etc.). I can’t imagine there’s a bunch of never-before-heard songs that have been sitting in a vault for thirty-one years without anyone mentioning it ever.”
The set will also included the “It’s So Easy” music video, which never got an official release because it was too racy for MTV in 1987, but which has also been floating around in bootleg form for many years. In other words, it’s neat that all this stuff is getting an official release, but it’s nothing GN’R acolytes don’t have already. In fact, the only bonus track I don’t recognize is called “The Plague.”
This ‘Locked N’ Loaded’ reissue of Appetite for Destruction will be released June 29 in a variety of editions… including a super mega boxset which will cost you a mere $1,000. And they’re “only” make 10,000 of those. Which, for those of you who aren’t great at math, means if they sell them all (which they will), they’ll make $10 million from those alone. Even subtracting production and distribution costs, this reissue is going to add considerably to the band’s ever-growing fortune.
You can pre-order all the various versions of Appetite for Deuxstruction here . Below, watch unboxing videos for the $1,000 box set and its cheaper, $179 cousin, plus a press release detailing all the shit included in these motherfuckers.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go take out a third mortgage on my house so I can afford this box set.
