WSOU Picks of the Week: Pennywise, Skeletonwitch
Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and has been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:
Pennywise – “Live While You Can” (Nick P.)
Pennywise have come up with yet another song that will get you two-stepping in no time. With a driving bass line, relentless drums and killer guitar work, the music is punk gold. On top of that, as an added bonus, the chorus is catchy and easy to remember, helpful after you took a spin kick to the skull a few songs ago.
Skeletonwitch – “Fen Of Shadows” (Dylan G.)
Skeletonwitch’s sonic evolution has been an interesting one; it’s not often I find a band with a repertoire that morphs from thrash to atmospheric melodic death. “Fen of Shadows” highlights this transition with seven minutes of an Insomnium-eque mix of sustained melodic riffing and screams.
