Listen: At the Gates Re-Recorded Their 1993 Track “Raped by the Light of Christ”

At the Gates’ new album To Drink from the Night Itself will be released in only two months’ time, but that hasn’t stopped the band from taking a look 25 years back into their storied career.

Included in the latest issue of Decibel Magazine is a flexi disc with a re-recorded version of “Raped by the Light of Christ,” which originally appeared on their 1993 album With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness. It’s definitely gotten a production upgrade and the performance is tighter as well, but I imagine some fans will naturally prefer the raw grit of the original.
