Owl – Valborg’s Christian Kolf Releases New Solo EP

If you’re familiar with Valborg, then you may or may not know that guitarist/vocalist Christian Kolf has his own solo project, Owl. Orion Fenix, Owl’s latest EP, is in fact just one massive song, clocking in at a wholesome 22 minutes.

The only way I can possibly describe this music is “post-apocalyptic space-age doom.” It sounds like Pallbearer and Neurosis decided to jam together with the Stranger Things soundtrack blaring in the background. Though this track is a beast, it keeps you hooked by the power of majestic riffs and undulating intensity; just when you’ve gotten used to the sublime, synth-y ambience, Owl turns around and sets your house on fire.
