Video: Glenn Tipton Joins Judas Priest on Stage in New Jersey
At the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ last night, Glenn Tipton made good on his promise to join Judas Priest on stage whenever possible despite announcing earlier this year that he’d be stepping down from touring with the band due to the progression of his Parkinson’s Disease.
After more than an hour of cranking through the hits, Priest went off stage for a short break then returned with Tipton for an encore. Glenn was of course met with a standing ovation and gave both the audience and himself a chance to soak in the experience. I had the privilege of witnessing it in person and it was a heartwarming moment, if a bittersweet one: Tipton appeared a bit hunched over and carries his body like someone suffering from a serious affliction (it’s noticeable), although the fact that he was able to get up on stage and deliver his parts flawlessly is a testament to his determination, willpower and undeniable legacy.
You can watch fan-filmed footage of the three-song encore below, which included “Metal Gods,” “Breaking the Law” and “Living After Midnight.”
