Exclusive Track Premiere: Yashira’s “Writhe (Embrace)”
On Friday, April 13, Yashira will release their Good Fight Music debut, Shrine. We worked with these dudes a couple of years ago when they participated in Converse Rubber Tracks x MetalSucks, at which point Vince compared their music to “a puppy in a meat grinder.” If you thought signing with a notable label like Good Fight might have caused the Jacksonville, Florida wrecking crew to soften their sound and save the puppy’s life, you were gravely mistaken.
Take, for example, the Shrine track “Writhe (Embrace).” If anything, the music is even nastier and darker than that made by the Yashira of 2016. Whereas the group’s older material owed a debt to doom-infused sludge bands like Rwake and Sumac, “Writhe (Embrace)” is faster, proggier, and even more stomp-a-riffic, like someone injected those bands with a shot of adrenaline. Put another way, old Yashira was a ravenous zombie; new Yashira is a ravenous zombie that runs. So kiss your ass good-bye.
MetalSucks is chuffed to premiere “Writhe (Embrace),” which you can check out below! Pre-order Shrine here (physical) or here (digital). The band goes on tour with two other MetalSucks favorites, Fit for An Autopsy and Great American Ghost, starting in April. Get dates at the bottom of this post!
