At the Gates Detail New Album, Unveil Cover Art
At the Gates are giving out intel about their new album at roughly the same speed my Aunt Sadie drives synagogue — slow AF. More than a month ago, we learned that the record will be called To Drink from the Night Itself, and would be released on May 18 via Century Media. Now we know what the cover will look like. The illustration, inspired by the Pergamon Altar, re-teams the band with At War with Reality‘s Costin Chioreanu. But it’s significantly cooler than that album’s minimalist design:
What we still don’t know is what this muthafucka is gonna sound like. It will be At the Gates’ first album with new guitarist Jonas Stålhammar, who replaces Anders Björler, who quit the band almost a year ago. I feel reasonably confident that they’ll pull it off, but the suspense is eating at me. Fortunately, the band says that “The album’s first single will be launched with a video… in the coming days,” so we all just have to be a wee bit more patient.
‘Til then, here’s the track list if the record, in the event song titles get you off. Start arguing about whether or not that final song was inspired by a certain sci-fi anthology series.
