Avenged Sevenfold Skipping the Grammys Because “Best Rock Song” Category Won’t Be Televised
Avenged Sevenfold are on tour right now. But despite have a few days off after this Saturday, January 27, they won’t be jetting to New York on Sunday to see if they win the Grammy for “Best Rock Song.” Why? You might assume they’re just not going to bother since they’re probably going to lose (fellow nominees include Metallica and Foo Fighters, both of whom have more brand recognition/appeal to the old people who vote for these awards). But, to hear them tell at it least, there’s a different reason altogether:
Honored. Unfortunately they have taken "Best Rock Song" off the telecast this year so we won't be attending. Maybe next time. https://t.co/GIotEyLCuK

Thank you so much for the questions, and an even bigger thank you to all who have come out on this tour. Good Luck to the nominees on Sunday. Regardless of the outcome, we want to thank each and every fan for their continued support. We hope to see you all soon. M #GRAMMYsAskA7X

The “Best Rock Song” category — and the “Best Metal Performance” category, for that matter — won’t be televised, but they will be live-streamed. I guess that’s not good enough for A7X. In any case, if you were looking forward to watching the band members sit in ironically-distressed tuxedos and try not to look disappointed when they lose, tough titty.
Despite this tragedy, MetalSucks will be covering the live stream on Sunday, which will also include a performance from Body Count. Watch this space.
