Kerry King’s Wife Says the Slayer Guitarist Has No Plans to Stop Making Music
Following yesterday’s announcement of Slayer’s impending dissolution, one of the big questions on everyone’s mind (or on my mind, at least) was: “What the hell will the band members do when there’s no more Slayer?” (And by “band members,” I really mean Tom Araya and Kerry King. Gary Holt will obviously go on doing Exodus and Paul Bostaph will blah blah blah.)
Well, according to Kerry King’s wife, Ayesha, whatever the guitarist does next, it won’t involve resting putting his instrument in storage:

There’s nothing to suggest that King is capable of writing anything besides Slayer music, but that’s only because King has never made any public effort to prove otherwise (and Slayer, for better or worse, have staunchly refused to change for more than three decades; some of their albums are better than others, but there’s no trend-hopping Load or Risk in their catalogue). Which is to say, I am beyond curious to hear King’s post-Slayer output. I think we have to assume the dude will continue to make metal — he has fucking horns tattooed on his skull, for Hanneman’s sake — but I sincerely hope his next project sounds little, if anything, like Slayer. You’ve already made thrash history, Kerry… now spread your wings and soar!
