Scream Along with Machine Head’s “Screaming at the Sun”
The new Machine Head album, Catharsis, drops at the end of this week… but if you can’t wait another few days to hear it, you can at least ease your jonesin’ with the new song “Screaming at the Sun,” which The PRP reports debuted over the weekend on the BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter.
The track offers fans a diverse array of sounds in its relatively brief four-minute running time. It’s pounding and heavy and groovy and in a lot of ways one of the more “traditional” Machine Head songs on the album. But the chorus features droning, harmonized vocals that are reminiscent of Alice in Chains, and Robb Flynn singing stoically through a wall of reverb, Chino Moreno-style, kinda like he does during the verses on “Beneath the Silt.” I suspect it’s gonna end up being one of Catharsis‘ most popular jams.
Check out “Screaming at the Sun” here (skip to 1:48:48). Catharsis is out this Friday, January 26 on Nuclear Blast. Pre-order it here. Get Machine Head’s upcoming “Evening With” tour dates here.
