Video: Papa Emeritus IV Listens to Ghost’s Ceremony and Devotion on 8-Track

Ghost’s live album, Ceremony and Ritual, has been available digitally for more than a month now, but as of today, physical editions have been released as well. And one of those physical editions is an 8-track, because humanity has officially run out of shit to do and now we’re all just biding our time ’til extinction.

To promote this release — or perhaps just to demonstrate that the 8-track is, in fact, playable — the band has released the below video, in which Papa Emeritus IV (Tobias Forge) listen to the album and talks shit about Papa Emeritus III (also Tobias Forge), who is the Papa that appears on Ceremony. It’s cute, I guess. It made me think there’s probably some kind of academic paper to be written about how Forge keeps changing personas without really changing personas at all, and how that’s relevant to the band being called ‘Ghost,’ the fact that Papa is dressed like a religious leader, etc.

But mostly, it made me wonder if the reason the video focuses solely on Forge’s hands is so that he didn’t have to go through the whole rigamarole of putting on all the Papa make-up. Hey, I wouldn’t blame him.

Here, have a few yuks:
