Coachella 2018 Lineup Includes A Perfect Circle, Portugal the Man, Greta Van Fleet, The Bronx, Carpenter Brut and More
Coachella has never been known as a bastion of heaviness — the Danny Wimmer festivals have filled that niche in recent years — but each year the California festival’s lineup typically includes a few bands that appeal to the black t-shirt set.
This year’s soiree in the desert will run on two consecutive three-day weekends (April 13/14/15 and 20/21/22), with each weekend featuring the exact same lineup. Some notable heavy acts appearing include A Perfect Circle and Portugal the Man billed pretty high up on the Sunday slate (Eminem is headlining), X Japan (!) and The Bronx on Saturday, and Greta Van Fleet and Carpenter Brut on Friday.
Not that heavy music is the only reason to attend: variety is the spice of life, isn’t it? I haven’t heard of a ton of the acts appearing this year, but St. Vincent, Kamasi Washington, Chromeo, David Byrne, Bleachers, and duh, Beyonce, are a few that I would certainly love to see if someone was like “Hey Vince, we’ll pay for you to fly cross-country and attend this festival for free!”
