Exhorder Re-Reunite, Announce 2018 Shows
Exhorder, who were really the proto-Pantera, have reunited. Honestly, I was unaware that they ever broke up again after their 2009 reunion, but I’m looking at a press release touting their reunion right now, so I guess that happened (presumably sometime after the death of bassist Frankie Sparcello in 2011). In any case, I’m glad to have them back… again!
It’s not presently clear whether or not the band plans to make any new music, but they have announced three live dates for next year:
Friday, February 9 – Brooklyn, NY @ Saint Vitus – Performing Slaughter in the Vatican in its entirety (tickets)
Saturday, February 10 – Brooklyn, NY @ Saint Vitus – Performing The Law in its entirety (tickets)
Monday, February 12 – New Orleans, LA @ Southport Hall (the press release had no ticket link so you have to figure it out on your own like a big kid)
There is one other catch worth mentioning: only two members of the band’s classic line-up, guitarist Vinnie LaBella and vocalist Kyle Thomas, are part of the reunion. This line-up is rounded out by bassist Jason Viebrooks (Heathen), guitarist Marzi Montazeri (ex-Superjoint Ritual, ex-Phil Anselmo & The Illegals), and drummer Sasha Horn (Forbidden).
Still, these shows could be great fun. If you wanna go, don’t dawdle buying tickets — these are not exactly the world’s largest venues.
