Billy Corgan Calls Chad Kroeger “an Incredible Songwriter”

Here, have a few yuks on Billy Corgan.

The Zwan frontman recently appeared on Joe Rogan’s talkshow, during which time he asserted that Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger is “an incredible songwriter.” He then elaborated:

 “I don’t know enough about their world, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong if that’s who you want to be. Pop is predicated on satisfying. I’ve said many times pop is porn. It’s porn, they want to get you off. It’s just how they’re going to get you off.”

No one should get too worked up over this. Mostly because this is just Corgan’s opinion so whatever, but also because in 2014, Corgan told Gigwise that he has never “even come close to getting the credit that I deserve” for being the songwriter who “wrote more hits than anybody of my generation,” which is accurate… if you’re going purely by chart success and not including any songwriters outside of the hard rock genre (“Booooo!” scream Diane Warren fans). I guess my point is, the guy is generally full of it, so double whatever.
