Listen to the Brutal New Cannibal Corpse Track “Scavenger Consuming Death”

Cannibal Corpse vocalist George “Corpegrinder” Fisher had a whole lot to say about renowned death metal producer Erik Rutan on the most recent episode of The MetalSucks Podcast. The guy is a legend, duh, but the particulars Fisher offers about why working with Rutan is so rewarding for him shed light on little-known intricacies of recording metal vocals. It’s a fascinating piece, and you should most certainly listen.

Cannibal Corpse’s new album Red Before Black comes out tomorrow, so the band’s released one final single to whet our appetites, “Scavenger Consuming Death.” I think it’s my favorite of the three released so far (“Red Before Black” and “Code of the Slashers” being the other two); it’s got a certain catchy, bouncy quality to the main riff that reminds me of Evisceration Plague, which is my favorite Cannibal Corpse album of late (and probably ever).
