The Faceless Announce New Album In Becoming a Ghost for December Release
We’ve known that The Faceless’s next album would be titled In Becoming a Ghost since at least 2015 when they first started teasing it. What we didn’t know is when the damn thing would come out, since delays are the norm in Camp Faceless. In July of last year, second guitarist Justin McKinney said the album was “pretty much done,” while in April of this year Michael Keene said the band was eyeing an August release. I don’t need to tell you that August has already come and gone, as have myriad tour cancelations.
But hey, finally some real news! The Faceless just announced via Facelessbook that In Becoming a Ghost will be released on December 1st via the band’s longtime label, Sumerian, and that a new song will come out on Halloween (the pre-order will launch then, too). The band has also posted some artwork from the album, which you can view in their Facebook post below.
The band has released a couple of scattershot tracks in recent years, both of which are listed on what appears to be the album’s back cover; you can listen to “Black Star” and “The Spiraling Void” for a taste of what the album has in store.
To be perfectly clear, we have never doubted Michael Keene’s creative genius: everything he’s released has been phenomenal, and we’re willing to bet In Becoming a Ghost will be no different. It’s just the other areas of his life that he seems to have problems keeping together, and those issues affect not just Keene but so many others around him, which pains us to see.
We’ll keep you posted when the next new track is released.
