Check Out These Recently Unearthed Photos of Cannibal Corpse on the Ace Ventura Set
Cannibal Corpse’s appearance in Jim Carrey’s breakthrough film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is now the stuff of legends. Not only was it a huge moment for Cannibal Corpse that the band has often credited with launching them into the mainstream consciousness, and not only did it serve as an introduction to death metal for thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of music fans around the globe, but it was a watershed moment for all of metal. To say the face of the genre we hold so dear would be different today if not for that minute-long theatrical clip would be a vast understatement.
A Metal Injection reader, guitarist and metalhead named Mark Douglas recently shared some photos he snapped of Cannibal Corpse on the Ace Ventura set all those years ago. Douglas accompanied his roommate — Cannibal Corpse guitarist Rob Barrett — to the shoot at the Cameo Theater in Miami, and thankfully had the foresight to bring a camera along. His photos are now yours to share, so enjoy, and be sure to watch the film clip, too, even if you’ve already seen it countless times. At the risk of stating the obvious… everyone looks so young!!
