Listen: Buried Realm Album Features A Who’s Who of Metal All-Stars
You must doing something right if you can convince the following cast of characters to guest on your album:
Bob Katsionis (Firewind, Septicflesh)
Brandon Ellis (Arsis, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannabis Corpse)
Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Armageddon)
Dean Paul Arnold (Vital Remains)
Marios Iliopoulos (Nightrage)
Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork)
Ryan Strain (Recode The Subliminal)
Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun)
Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Jeff Loomis)
That’s exactly what multi-instrumentalist Josh Dummer has done with his one-man project Buried Realm’s debut album The Ichor Carcinoma. How’d he get such A-listers to throw in? We have some idea: the music is really, really good! It’s as if all these guys were lining up to participate. Sheesh, though, he couldn’t get any member of Scar Symmetry to chip in? Utter failure.
Buried Realm sound a whole lot like what you’d expect given the bands whose guest musicians Dummer tapped for the project: aggressive, catchy, Sweden-inspired melodic death metal. If you like all of the bands name-checked above, you’re sure to like this one. It’s incredibly well-done and expertly crafted.
