Holy fuck, there’s a new Celeste album? Holy fuck, there’s a new Celeste album! Why the fuck didn’t anyone tell me? Was there a press release that I missed?

Nope! The French black metal outfit, a longtime MetalSucks favorite, went and made a new album — their first in four years! — completely under our radar. Not that we’re complaining. Who doesn’t love a good surprise? Especially when it’s as nice of a surprise as new Celeste music! Especially when it’s as nice of a surprise as new Celeste music that was totally worth the wait!

Indeed, Infidèle(s) — that’s what the new album is called, by the way (the parenthetical ‘s’ is a trademark of the band’s album titles) — just hopped its way onto my running list of contenders for Best Metal Albums of 2017. It’s almost certainly the best black metal record I’ve heard this year.
