With all the tributes to Hugh Hefner pouring in from around the world today, we don’t feel a need to add to the parade, so we’ll just say this: he was a true American — and worldwide — icon, and he lived a hell of a life! He will be missed.

Hefner’s Playboy Mansion was always a place of debaucherous excess, and this video from the year 2000 — at which time Hefner was already well into his 70s! — certainly shows it off in top form. Fred Durst hosted an MTV album release party for Limp Bizkit’s new album Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water, and some other metal and rock notables including Tommy Lee (promoting Methods of Mayhem!), Brandon Boyd (Incubus), Debbie Harry (Blondie), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Chino Moreno (Deftones), Courtney Love, David Silveria (Korn), Pauly Shore and more all make appearances. Plus Warren G and Sisqo! What a who’s who of music in the year 2000.
