Synthwave Phenoms Survive Announce New EP, Stream Remix of “Cutthroat”
Survive are certainly having a moment, aren’t they? The runaway success of Stranger Things — for which they wrote the insanely catchy main theme — catapulted them out of relative synthwave obscurity and into the mainstream. Perhaps wanting to seize on that momentum — and timed to coincide with the debut of season two of Stranger Things — Survive will follow up last year’s RR7349 album with a new EP of remixes, RR7387, due out later this fall.
Today we get to hear the first of those remixes, a new version of “Cutthroat” by Lena Willikens. Not Waving and Sam Haar (of Blondes) also contribute reworked versions of RR7349 album tracks to the EP, but the remix artist most folks reading this piece will be most interested in is Justin Broadrick of Godflesh and Jesu. We anxiously await hearing his version of “Other,” but in the meantime this cut is pretty rad, too.
RR7387 comes out November 3rd via Relapse Records; pre-order here.
