Lovers’ Quarrel Over: Marilyn Manson Squashes Beef with Justin Bieber
As you may or may not recall, it was all of a week ago that Marilyn Manson was talking smack about Justin Bieber, claiming he’d had his revenge for The Biebs’ overpriced bootleg Manson shirts:
Manson says that when he first met Bieber “he was [already] wearing the shirt that had his name on my shirt, and he said to me, ‘I made you relevant again.’” “Bad mistake to say to me,” Manson adds.
“The next day I told him I’d be at his soundcheck at Staples Center to do ‘Beautiful People’,” Manson recounts, at which point Bieber confessed that the t-shirt “was his idea.” Manson never intended to perform with Bieber, but “he believed that I’d show up, because he was that stupid.”
Manson says he eventually “took all the proceeds from those shirts from him. They didn’t even fight, they were just like, ‘yea, we already know, we did wrong, so here’s the money.’
“He was a real piece of shit in the way he had the arrogance to say that,” Manson says of Bieber. “He was a real touchy-feely guy, too, like, ‘yo yo bro!’ and touches you when he’s talking. I’m like, you need to stand down, you’re dick height on me, ok? (laughs) Alright? So stand down, son.”
Alright, so, maybe not the greatest prank ever, but still, pretty satisfying, right? Especially when you realize that, at least according to Manson, Bieber actually was pretty bummed to learn that the shock rocker doesn’t like him.
Billboard describes the fallout as recounted by Manson during a recent appearance on Howard Stern. Manson reportedly handed Stern his “burner phone” and allowed him to read a text exchange between himself and Bieber:
“Bro, it’s Bieber what’s up with that article? I thought we had a pretty pleasant interaction. Also, if anything wasn’t squared away with the T-shirts I’m so sorry. Anyway, regardless, it kind of stung seeing that if I came off as an asshole or was just an asshole, I’m sorry????”
[NOTE: The article just says Bieber’s text was concluded by “a series of question marks,” so I added four question marks, which seemed to fairly qualify as ‘a series’ without being too over-the-top. My apologies if this is not factually correct.]
Manson then responded simply with the word “words,” which the vocalist says is “what I say to girls when they talk.” The two celebrities then took turns blaming the media for the whole thing:
MANSON: That [quote] was exaggerated. You were just you being you. No beef here.
BIEBER: Honestly, I totally thought we hit it off. Again, my bad, if I was an asshole that wasn’t my intention. Just want you to know that.
MANSON: We are cool. People just made that shirt stuff into a fake feud. Let’s turn it upside-down and fuck the press and do something together. It will be the best. And don’t apologize, you weren’t an asshole. They asked if you were and I sort of agreed. I wasn’t out to get you.
Still, Manson left it unclear if he was being sincere or not, telling Stern, “I just said ‘you were just being you,’ which could mean you’re just being an asshole, or whatever.”
There’s really a lot to unpack here, so let’s focus on what’s important:
- Marilyn Manson texts with little boys.
- Marilyn Manson does not believe women should ever speak.
- In real life, Justin Bieber begins texts with ‘bro’ and ends them with a series of question marks. So Kate McKinnon could literally replace him at any time and like .001% of the population would ever notice.
- Everything is the media’s fault, always. #FAKENEWS
So. Anyway. I’ll be curious to see what happens next week on Mean Girls: The Series, won’t you?
