WSOU Picks of the Week: Gwar, The Haunted, Primus
Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:
Gwar – “El Presidente” (Dylan G.)
If there is anything good to come from a tumultuous political climate, it’s that it fuels the passion to create some awesome tunes. Now that punk is dead and its remnants are a bunch of putzes and hipsters (eyes on you, AJJ), metal carries on the anti-establishment torch. “El Presidente” is the Gwar equivalent to the wholesome family classic “Fuck The Police” by N.W.A.
The Haunted – “Strength In Numbers” (Aubrey F.)
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. All these years later The Haunted continue to bring their Gothenburg thrash attack with ferocity and precision on their new single “Strength in Numbers.” With Marco Aro on the mic, it’s immediate reminder of Made Me Do It era Haunted with a signature chorus.
Primus – “The Seven” (Joe R.)
Primus are back and just as… well… interesting as ever! Their new track “The Seven” off their upcoming album The Desaturating Seven is for people of all ages! While you get your fix of new Primus, your kids can learn all the colors of the rainbow! Move over ROYGBIV, am I right? This track features the classic Primus sound we all know and love delivered by bassist Les Claypool. The new album drops September 29.
