Carnifex Displeased That Advertisers Behind Virgin Trains Have Good Taste in Metal
Carnifex are upset about the way their song “Answers in Mourning” is being used in an advertisement for Virgin Trains.

The band does not seem to be comforted by the fact that the ad refers to their music as ‘thrash metal,’ thereby indicating that the makers of the ad don’t actually know anything about this genre of music. Nor do they seem to be comforted by the fact that the makers of the ad have actually flattered them. Their music is wwwwaaaayyy less pleasant than a flat tire.
“Love it when everyone makes money on our music except the people who wrote, recorded and performed it. Anyone else see this ad?
“This is the most ‘mainstream’ we’ll ever get and Virgin Trains has compared us to traffic, a flat tire and being arrested.”
Assuming the band really won’t make any money from the licensing fee for this, that actually does really blow, and I’m sorry for them. The silver lining is that my friend who works on Madison Avenue tells me they’re currently cutting together an ad for Valtrex featuring the music of Attila, soooo…
