Will Faith No More Return? “I Kind of Don’t Think it Will,” Says Mike Patton

Faith No More were always too good for this prolapsed, unwiped anus of a world. We were truly blessed to have them at all, and we were further blessed when they decided to reunite. That we got as much as we did is a miracle.

These are the phrases I keep repeating in my head so that I don’t cry.

Because during a recent interview with Full Metal Jackie, FNM frontman Mike Patton was asked if there was any news he could share about the band’s current activities, to which he replied (transcript courtesy of Loudwire):

“No, I would share but I don’t know anything. So, we’re kind of on a extended break and if something happens, it’ll happen organically and naturally but I kind of don’t think it will. I kind of feel like we’ve tipped the scales a little bit, but we’ll see, who knows? I’ve learned my lesson not to say ‘No.’”

Patton continued:

“It’s one of those things, kind of like going to a family reunion and get along with your uncle and you’re like, ‘Oh, we’re going to go to the next BBQ. Fine.’ It’s really the way it is for us.”

Now, you may recall, Patton was the last holdout on the first reunion. So all hope is not yet lost. Still, this isn’t, like, reassuring or anything.

But that’s okay. Faith No More were always too good for this prolapsed, unwiped anus of a world. We were truly blessed to have them at all, and we were further blessed when they decided to reunite. That we got as much as we did is a miracle.

You can check out the entire interview here, which I recommend, because it also includes this wonderful exchange:

What are your thoughts on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Faith No More is eligible and I feel like a band that —

Really?

Yes.

What does eligible mean?

Timing wise in terms of when your first album came out, there’s a certain amount of years –

There’s a criteria for that shit?

GOLD.
