Listen to Wolves in the Throne Room’s Latest Blacksterpiece, “Mother Owl, Father Ocean”
I am STOKED for Wolves in the Throne Room’s upcoming tour. It’s been several years since I allowed myself to be enveloped by the overwhelming blackness that is their live show (literally — they play in complete darkness, with a few candles lit on stage) and to get lost in the dynamic journeys that are their songs, with all the dramatic ups and downs.
The band’s just release another song from their forthcoming album Thrice Woven, “Mother Owl, Father Ocean.” It’s combined here with the previously released “Angrboda” — which is how it’s presented on the album: one continuous, twelve-and-a-half-minute song — sees the band getting a bit sludgier and slower than much of their typical fare, and features guest vocals from Norwegian singer Anna von Hausswolff in an ambient section to close out the track.
Stream it below via Metal Hammer. Thrice Woven comes out September 22nd on the band’s own label, Artemisia; pre-order here. Catch them on tour with Pillorian (ex-Agalloch) this fall; dates here.
