Exclusive Track Premiere: Null’s “Pedestrian”
We were honestly not familiar with Null before we were floated a copy of their upcoming split 7″ with Nashville’s Husband Stitch. But by golly, are we ever glad to be familiar with the Birmingham, AL quartet now! For they are one of those glorious bands whose music amalgamates genres and defies easy classification. Technically, they belong to the same breed of retro-melo-doom bands as Pallbearer, but there’s a somewhat more granola vibe to their sound.
Take, for example, “Pedestrian,” their half of the aforementioned split. Featuring echoey, incantation-like vocals, slumberous guitars, and otherworldly sound effects, the track is druggy, hypnotic, and ethereal, like if The Mamas & the Papas reinterpreted Saint Vitus. That might sound odd, but it totally works: “Pedestrian” is seven-and-a-half minutes long, and you’ll be entranced by every second of it.
MetalSucks is proud to premiere “Pedestrian,” which you can check out below! You can also check out one of Husband Stitch’s two contributions to the split over at No Echo (it’s also really good and quite different from Null, so don’t sleep on it). The split 7″ comes out September 8 on War Crimes Recordings. Pre-order it here!!!
