Linkin Park to Soldier On Without Chester Bennington?
I think a lot of assumed that the death of Chester Bennington signaled the death of Linkin Park as well. Besides the fact that his vocals were such a huge part of that band’s sound, he was certainly the most famous member of the band as well. I don’t even like Linkin Park’s music, and I find it hard to imagine them without Chester.
And yet, it would appear that the band is planning to move on without Bennington.
Yesterday, Linkin Park released a statement in which they revealed that they are “working on a special public event in Los Angeles to honor Chester’s memory.” But even more interesting was this sentence from the very same statement:
“The five of us are so grateful for all of your support as we heal and build the future of Linkin Park.”
Granted, that’s not an explicit confirmation that the band plans to continue without their late singer… but I don’t know what the heck else “build[ing] the future of Linkin Park” could mean.
Assuming that’s the case… best of luck to ’em. I mean that earnestly. Replacing your singer is never an easy task; under such horrible circumstances, it’s borderline Sisyphean. Some singer out there is gonna have some might big shoes to fill.
You can read the band’s entire statement below.
