Dead Cross Issue Statement About Mike Patton’s Accident
UPDATE, 2:50pm EDT: Mike Patton wiped out on his skateboard en route to the venue. Additionally, tonight’s show in LA — a reschedule from last night — is ON. Read all about it here.
Original Post:
Dead Cross vocalist Mike Patton (also of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, etc.) was involved in accident yesterday, the nature of which was not released. Some reports said it was an automobile accident, while others didn’t specify. The band’s show last night in Los Angeles was canceled as a result.
The band has now issued a statement on the matter to MetalSucks via their publicist. Unfortunately it’s not much in the way of details about either the nature of the accident or the future of the tour, other than to say that tonight’s show at The Echoplex (also in Los Angeles) has been canceled as well. Here is the entirety of the statement:
“Mike Patton was involved in a minor accident last night en route to the Los Angeles date of Dead Cross’ current tour. Tonight’s performance has been canceled but a decision has yet to be made about the remaining dates. “
OK, so: “minor accident.” That’s good news! And consistent with guitarist Michael Crain’s words to the audience last night that “it’s not grave.” It seems Patton will be alright, although there is plenty of gray area between “grave” and “not grave,” and the fact that the rest of the tour is potentially in jeopardy certain’t doesn’t bode well.
We will keep you updated. Remaining tour dates can be found here.
Here’s a reminder of better times earlier on in the tour, when Mike Patton went bowling during the middle of the band’s set:
