Take Off with Queens of the Stone Age’s New Song “The Evil Has Landed”
Metal and hard rock outfit turned respectable garage rock band Queens of the Stone Age have released a new song called “The Evil Has Landed.” Despite the title, there is really nothing evil about the track; quite the opposite, in fact. This mutha is a real toe-tapper. It feels like something someone might have on in the background while cleaning or doing some other such innocuous task.
Which isn’t to say it’s a bad song (it’s certainly better than “The Way You Used to Do,” the band’s last single). I will continue to pine for QOTSA’s Nick Oliveri era forever and ever, but if you don’t mind the direction the band has taken since kicking Oliveri out, you’ll dig this. It’s just weird that fifteen years ago they’d tour with bands like Audioslave, and now it sounds like they should be touring with The Strokes.
Check out “The Evil Has Landed” below. QOTSA’s new album, Villains, comes out August 25 on Matador, and can be pre-ordered here. Additionally, the band has announced that they’ll hit the road for a headlining run starting in September. Royal Blood will provide support. Dates are here.
