Listen to the Devastatingly Heavy Collaboration Between The Body and Full of Hell, “Earth is a Cage”
In 2016, The Body and Full of Hell collaborated on One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache, a maelstrom of grind, noise, sludge and electronic music that sounded like nothing either of those two bands on their own. Now only a year and a half later the bands will come together again for a new album promising more of the same… and then some.
On “Earth is a Cage,” the first song to be released from Ascending A Mountain Of Heavy Light, the music oscillates between dirty, fuzzed out house beats and dissonant sludge riffs, a combination so devastatingly heavy it feels like being trapped inside seven torture devices all at once, then being thrown into a fiery pit of molten lava. It’s that desperate feeling and upsetting. It seems unlikely that it’s taken until 2017 for musicians to stumble upon this viscerally unsettling combination, but there you have it: The Body and Full of Hell set out to innovate with this project, and they’ve certainly done it.
