Synthwave Sunday Exclusive Premiere: Myrone, “Groove Ritual”
Less than a year after his stunning, genre-bending debut album Drift Stage Vol 1. (OST), soft shred master Myrone is back with another full-length! And your #1 destination for all things Myrone (we should just change the site’s name to MyroneSucks already) is here with an exclusive premiere of “Groove Ritual,” an appropriately titled track from the album.
Like all my Myrone’s best work, “Groove Ritual” captures the aesthetic of late ’80s / early ’90s L.A. beach culture with aplomb. Roller skates on the boardwalk, beach volleyball, skimp red bikinis, a sports car with the top down… it’s all here, in music form. That funky bass, the synthesizer tones right out of that little Casio you had in your bedroom, a synth horn section and, of course, Myrone’s silky guitar leads that carry the melody of the song throughout all serve to time warp you back to a magical place that perhaps never even existed in real life. It’s absolutely perfect.
Humanity is a collection of all brand new songs that’ll be fresh to even the most devoted of Myrone’s Soundcloud followers — only a couple of these have seen the light of day before.
Check it out below. Humanity comes out on August 18th and will be available on Bandcamp; meanwhile you can download “Groove Ritual” for whatever price you feel like paying, including free!
