Video: Warped Tour Bands Crashed a Westboro Baptist Church Rally

We all know by now that the members of the Westboro Baptist Church — progenitors of the famed “God hates fags” billboards, among other choice phrases — are hateful pieces of shit.

While I respect what the members of I Prevail and other bands on Warped Tour were trying to do when they crashed a WBC rally last week with shirts that said “Fuck the Westoboro Baptist Church,” I can’t help but wonder if they’re unwittingly giving the WBC protestor exactly what they want: more attention and exposure. Seems to me the best thing to do would be to ignore these whackos completely until they bug off or fade into obscurity (and for what it’s worth, they do seem to be more scarce these days than they were a few years back).

The irony of giving them more exposure via this post is not lost on me. It’s my hope it’ll help dissuade people from engaging with the WBC altogether in the future.

Anyway, here’s video of the event. It looks like everyone involved — especially the WBC protestors — had plenty of fun, which lends credence to my theory that they’re just happy for the attention. Watch:
