Urizen Bassist / Tomcats West Owner Rustin Luther Has Passed Away From Brain Cancer
Last year we reported that Rustin Luther, bassist for Urizen and owner of the venues Tomcats West in Fort Worth, TX and Dirty 30 in Dallas, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. We were told it was going to take his life, but he was able to live in a semblance of normalcy for “as long as his condition can be managed.” His family was saddled with huge expenses, and with the support of the metal community we were able to mitigate those costs and help out a family in their time of need.
Sadly, on July 29th, Rustin Luther died.
This is another call for aid. Rustin’s fight has left his family and his community devastated. We want to do everything we can for him and his loved ones, and the family is asking for help with the costs of putting him to rest. Here is a fundraiser to help with the memorial services and the remaining expenses; last year, you guys were able to raise more than $15,000 dollars in less than a week, and this time the family has set a modest goal of $5,000.
For those able to go, there will be two public memorial services for Rustin: one at Tomcats West, and the other at Dirty 30. They have been grateful for your support in the past, and god knows they could use some right now.
Rest in peace, Rustin.
