The Contortionist Deliver Another Melodic New Song “Absolve”
Remember when The Contortionist were heavy?
That era is goooooone!
We’ve now heard two songs from the band’s forthcoming album Clairvoyant, and they’re both super melodic. The latest one has barely a distorted guitar.
Not that we’re complaining. Both songs are absolutely fantastic! But we’re sure there’s a segment of the band’s fanbase that’s pissed. ‘Cause internet metal nerds gonna rage.
This band needed to differentiate themselves. Their debut album Exoplanet was stock, but they’ve been slowly coming into their own ever since… and now they’e completely arrived.
So: after hearing “Reimagined” last month, now we get “Absolve,” which continues the trend of not only being more melodic / less heavy, but more straight-forward and less proggy. Cynic comparisons are going to be flying all over the place with regards to this album — and that’s fair, to some extent — but really The Contortionist sound like no one but themselves, and to compare them to anyone else at this point would be woefully unfair.
The Contortionist’s new album, Clairvoyant, comes out September 15 on Good Fight. You can pre-order it here. The band hits the road with BTBAM a week later! Get dates here.
