Judas Priest Make a Video Game Now
Following in the footsteps of their fellow NWOBHM legends in Iron Maiden, Judas Priest will be releasing a mobile game, Judas Priest: Road to Valhalla, tomorrow, Wednesday, July 19.
Which seems neat, but the below video, which previews the game, does not make it look all that much fun. If you’re gonna do a Judas Priest game involving a motorcycle (which certainly makes sense), why would you have the perspective be a bird’s eye view? You can’t even see the cool Painkiller bike! It would also be neat if what little narrative the game had somehow revolved around trying to prove to Brent Hinds that Judas Priest are as metal as metal gets.
That being said, many of us have wasted time with far stupider mobile games than this. At least Road to Valhalla has Priest music.
Here’s a quote about the game from the mighty Rob Halford:
“When we set out to make this game, we wanted to give fans a new kind of visual listening experience. For the first time, we are making individual stems of our songs available to fans to give them a new and interactive way to engage with some of the best songs from our catalog.”
Will the game be fantastic time-waster, or a fantastic waste of time? We’ll find out soon enough…
