This Video of Deafheaven Going Record Shopping Will Make Metal Neckbeards Super Angry
Amoeba Music’s long-running video series “What’s in My Bag?” is back with a new episode, this time with Deafheaven’s George Clarke and Kerry McCoy taking a stroll around the famous Los Angeles record store. And as with everything this band touches, the episode is sure to spark quite a bit of controversy from metal dweebs the world over.
Unsurprisingly, the guys in Deafheaven have great taste. Also unsurprisingly, most of it has nothing to do with metal. Clarke is digging on records by Austra, Drab Majesty, Youth Code and Alcest (ok, there’s some metal in there) while autobiographies by Johnny Marr (of The Smiths) and Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers) grab McCoy’s attention, along with reissues of classic Oasis and Morrissey albums.
Surely this video will stoke the cries of “not true metal!” to which I, and most likely Clarke and McCoy, too, proudly say “fuck off.”
