The Black Dahlia Murder, Dying Fetus, Etc. Announce Summer Slaughter Off-Dates
UPDATE, 6/28, 10:50am EDT: A representative from Summer Slaughter has informed us that the El Paso off-date show will take place on August 8th, not August 5th, and therefore does not conflict with the existing August 5th Summer Slaughter date in Austin.
Original Post:
Well, this is a bit odd: five bands on this year’s Summer Slaughter trek have announced a series of off-dates together to plug the holes in the tour’s routing.
While that alone isn’t unusual — smaller bands on larger tours commonly fill off-dates so they don’t lose money sitting idle — what is weird is the fact that Summer Slaughter’s two headlining bands, The Black Dahlia Murder and Dying Fetus, are both participating in these “off dates.”
With both headliners in, why didn’t they just have all nine bands participate and call it “Summer Slaughter”? My best guess is that some of other bands on the bill insisted on having days off during this run. Which is totally understandable, but shit, it only underscores what fucking hard workers and road dogs the guys in The Black Dahlia Murder and Dying Fetus are!
Oceano, Slaughter to Prevail and Lorna Shore will round out the bill for these six shows. The Faceless, Origin, Rings of Saturn and Betraying the Martyrs will be enjoying icy cold hotel rooms or suffering in their sweat-filled, traveling fart-boxes.
Something else that’s odd: one of these off-dates — August 5th in El Paso — conflicts with a previously announced Summer Slaughter date in Austin that same night. We’ve asked for clarification on that issue with the tour’s organizers and will update this post as soon as we have an answer.
