Video: Kids React to Iron Maiden

What is about these “Kids React” videos that strikes such a nerve in us? The latest, “Kids React to Iron Maiden,” has racked up nearly half a million views in under a day.

I think the reason is two-fold. One, these clips make us feel both very old and very young at the same time. On one hand the music featured in “Kids React” videos came out so long ago that today’s youth has NO IDEA what the hell it is, but on the other hand watching kids experience it for the first time brings us back to the innocence of our own formative years. It’s like a nostalgia sandwich with you right in the middle.

Two: they’re just fun, OK? Stop being such a poopy-pants fun-hater.

Iron Maiden are the latest band to get the “Kids React” treatment, following other clips in which today’s youngins react to Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Guns N’ Roses and others. Follow Fine Brothers Entertainment on YouTube for even more, including several “Elders React” videos which are equally as silly/awesome.
