Slipknot’s Jay Weinberg and Father Max Weinberg (E Street Band) Appear Together in Guitar Center Ad
Max Weinberg, drummer of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and the former long-time bandleader for Conan O’Brien’s late night show, had the following to say about his son Jay, who currently sits atop Slipknot’s drum throne, earlier this year:
“I couldn’t do it. I’ve seen him up close and I don’t know how he does it. I had nothing to to do with it. He taught himself. He’ll be 27 this year and he’s just a killer drummer and a great kid. It’s so much fun for me to see him play, and he’s a virtual artist. He lives in Nashville. He’s doing quite a bit of stuff. He’s writing songs on his own and the band is making plans to do another record, a follow-up to the last one, which did very well.”
In other words, he’s very proud of his son! Duh. Any dad would be, but it must be extra gratifying for the elder Weinberg to watch his kid follow in his footsteps.
Now Guitar Center has paired both Weinbergs together in a new television commercial for Father’s Day. The clip sees the two generations drumming alongside one another and waxing ecstatic about each others’ performances. Watch it below.
Maybe some day Google will tap my offspring and I for a spot in which we’re furiously typing next to one another in a dark, dank basement while our respective mothers brings us pizza… a blogger can only hope!
