WSOU Picks of the Week: CKY, Stone Sour, Origin
Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:
CKY – “Days of Self Destruction” (Andre V.)
CKY’s new song is a Groundhog Day track announcing that CKY have come out of hibernation. The song’s melodies stick true to what CKY had eight years ago with Old Carver, and it’s awesome to hear them once again back in action releasing an album of new hits for long-time fans who will get to see them on Warped Tour. The Phoenix album is a good listen; a tad different from IDR, but still something fresh!
Stone Sour – “Fabuless” (Joe R.)
After four years, Stone Sour’s “Fabuless” off their new album Hydrograd is exactly what its name tells you it is. Corey Taylor is in his usual form with unreal vocals while new guitarist Christian Martucci proves that the band is capable of moving on without Jim Root, who left to pursue Slipknot full time. This song is definitely worth a listen to hold you over until the new album comes out in June.
Origin – “Accident and Error” (Dylan G.)
New York tech death maestros Origin just dropped a face-melting new track off of their upcoming album. Between this ditty, Suffocation singles, and new Decapitated material, this spring has the soundtrack of a mass execution. Origin’s new album, Unparalleled Universe, comes out in June 30th via Nuclear Blast Records.
