Chris Cornell’s Audioslave Bandmate Brad Wilk (Rage Against the Machine) Posts Tribute
Yesterday afternoon Tom Morello posted a touching tribute to his former Audioslave bandmate Chris Cornell, and now drummer Brad Wilk — also in Rage Against the Machine, of course — has become the second from the band to do so. Bassist Tim Commerford hasn’t spoken publicly yet, nor have any of Chris’s bandmates in Soundgarden.
Here’s Wilk’s statement, posted via Instagram last night:
“The sadness of you leaving I can not begin to describe here. So close to home. I was in awe of your talent. The time I was able to spend with you, which was not enough, I will forever cherish. At your core you were a smart, sweet and gentle soul. This is how I will always remember you. Love you Chris.???? Hard to believe this picture marks the last time I will ever see you here on earth.”
Cornell died Wednesday night in his hotel room after performing with Soundgarden in Detroit. His death has been ruled a suicide by hanging. Read what several prominent members of the metal and rock communities have been saying about his life.
