Track Premiere: Nordjärvi Keep The Death Melo on “Crepuscule of Fall”
It seems like these days, melodeath (or melodic death metal if you’ve never chatted with a chubbo in a Darkane shirt before) gets a bad rap, which is understandable given that in the early- to mid-2000s every metal band around was either copying In Flames’ sound or incorporating In Flames’ sound into their music. But melodeath rose to prominence for a reason–it’s fun, listenable, and adds texture to what would otherwise be mid-paced thrash. The bands who continue to champion it can still whip up some great stuff every so often.
Case in point, we’re happy to premiere “Crepuscule of Fall”, a new track by Minnesota’s own Nordjärvi. It’s unsurprising that the song is such a solid straightforward melodeath track, as the band contains former members of Nightrage and Circus Maximus, and the song features guitar work by Chris Amott, formerly of Arch Enemy and Ghost Ship Octavius. If you’re looking for something pretty and hypnotic that sounds like light dancing on the surface of water, you’re in for a treat.
