In Flames Release Awesome Stop Motion Animated Video for “Here Until Forever”
In Flames released Battles in November of last year, and, I’ll be honest, I haven’t listened to it. I know we had some mixed impressions of the singles off this record, but I haven’t been a fan of most of their material since back in the days of Reroute to Remain. Even then, I think they really only served as a stepping stone for me; they had a bit of edge but they were melodic enough to help ease me into heavier music. That being said, after watching the video they just released for “Here Until Forever” I ay have to hop on Spotify and give this album a shot. The song ain’t half bad — it’s super catchy — but the video itself is what really shines.
Directed by the incredibly talented stop motion animator Luis Téllez (Jacinta, La Noria), the video explores some unique animation themes. It reminds me a lot of something you’d see by Laika, the team that animated Kubo and the Two Strings, Coraline, and The Box Trolls in terms of off-the-wall creativity. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for stop motion animation, and this video does a fantastic job of enhancing the music it accompanies.
I’ve got the video embedded below for you to check out. You should watch it regardless of your thoughts on In Flames; I know I’m glad I did. I’ve also included Téllez’s Jacinta, because it’s fantastic and you should watch that, too.
