The New Shadow of Intent Album Will Sexually Excite You
No, not really. But god damn are these dudes good. They dropped their new album Reclaimer on April 27, and considering I missed it on Shit That Comes Out Today last week, I’m making a PSA for it now. For fans of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Ovid’s Withering and Dimmu Borgir, Reclaimer will tread familiar ground. For those of you who aren’t fans of either of those bands, I can only assume you’ve never heard symphonic black/death metal before because it’s fucking awesome. If you don’t like it, then you’re wrong. This is not an alternative fact.
Anyway, if you mashed up the three bands I mentioned above and slapped Phil Bozeman’s vocals on top of it, you’d get a pretty good picture of what Shadow of Intent are all about. Vocalist Ben Deurr even has a few moments where his fast-paced vocals would make Bozeman jealous, such as on “The Return.”
Shadow of Intent have an EP and two full-length albums out and have only been around since 2014, making them relatively new. These dudes are onto some heavy fucking shit here, and to top it off, they write a lot of their music about the Halo video games.
Not sure what else I could possibly say here to convince you to listen. Just sit back, fire up the album, and let it have its way with your ears, because it’s heavier than everyone’s proverbial mother. You won’t regret it. You should buy this album up and follow them on Facebook, too, because the world needs more Shadow of Intent.
