Gus G. on Zakk Wylde Replacing Him in Ozzy’s Solo Band: “It’s Been Long Overdue”
Yesterday, Ozzy Osbourne announced that he’ll perform a series of live solo dates with Zakk Wylde on guitar this summer. Although a press release promised that Ozzy plans to release a new album in 2018, there was no mention made of Gus G., who has been playing guitar for Ozzy since 2010’s Scream (although he didn’t write any material for that record). We were left to infer that Gus’ tenure with Ozzy has come to a close…
…but now Gus has confirmed it with this statement on Facebook:
It’s been an honor & a privilege playing by your side since 2009. Nothing but great times & an experience of a lifetime.
To Ozzy & Sharon – thanks for everything, love ya!
To Blasko, Adam & Tommy – been a pleasure rocking with you!
As a fan, it’s great to see Ozzy & Zakk back together. It’s been long overdue.
Last but not least – thanks to all the fans that showed love & support all these years, see you out there soon!Ozzy rules!
G.
Classy move on the part of Mr. G. Still, it’s a bummer that he’ll never get a stab at writing something for Ozzy. The only other guitarist to play with Osbourne for so long but never get to truly contribute to the vocalist’s catalogue is Joe Holmes, who also replaced, and was then replaced by, Wylde. C’est la vie.
