Listen: Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” Gone Death Metal

The very talented musician Andy Rehfeldt has produced some of the most popular metal-related YouTube covers of all time: a reggae mash-up of Pantera’s “Walk,” a death metal cover of “You’re the One That I Want” from Grease, and a ska version of Ozzy’s “Over the Mountain,” to name but a few.

So, while the trend of metal covers of non-metal songs (and non-metal covers of metal songs) has lost some of its luster over the years, every now and then one comes along that catches the attention of even the most jaded of us metal bloggers… and Rehfeldt’s latest release, a death metal cover of Dolly Parton’s classic “Jolene,” reminds us what we loved so much about this guy in the first place. Everything about it is done just right, including the guest vocals courtesy of Mercy Brown‘s Sera Hatchett.
