Listen: James Hetfield Narrates a Documentary About Porn Addiction

James Hetfield has been a lockbox about his political leanings. While his bandmates haven’t been shy about expressing their opinions in the age of Trump, Hetfield has remained mum, maintaining his longtime “no politics” policy for fear of alienating certain Metallica fans, although it’s long been suspected he leans conservative — take, for example, the documentary about bear hunting he narrated a few years back.

Now Hetfield’s politics may have revealed themselves via his documentary narration side-gig once again: his voice appears over a new documentary called Addicted To Porn: Chasing The Cardboard Butterfly, which comes out today and examines the impact pornography and technology have had on modern culture. A trailer was for the film was released back in January, and now there’s another one featuring Hetfield’s voice.

Lest you think, “Oh, maybe the film takes a progressive look into pornography!” have a gander at this Hetfield-narrated quote from the film’s trailer:

“Our children are potentially exposed to massive amounts of pornography on a daily basis by the tap of a finger. It is teaching them a lie, it is belittling spouses, emasculating men and destroying the beautiful essence of women.”

Right. Because we all know sexuality should be tamed and repressed… that works out so well. And if we’re into things other than plain, vanilla sex there must be something wrong with us.
